About

Supports digital privacy in the age of technology & open access to accurate information.

My name is Nathan Davies. Throughout my life, being born in “Generation Z”, I have been surrounded with technology and was introduced to it from a young age – as Internet usage was rising steadily and advancements in technology were getting quicker.

It has always been something that intrigued me. Technology has great power, and one of its main selling points is how it can make our lives easier. Social media allows us to communicate with anyone in the world quickly. E-commerce means we can order products straight to our homes, from our homes. More recently, smart assistance and AI technologies mean technology can help us with day-to-day tasks.

But all this comes with a cost – aside from the financial cost of purchasing the latest technology, what I am concerned about is the increasing impact this all has on our privacy. Some, for convenience. Others, seemingly in the name of safety & security.

Advocating for privacy in a digital world

I believe everyone has a fundamental right to privacy and to use the Internet safely without fear of their information being misused. – especially in the digital world we live in. In a world where almost everything we do is online, I support technologies and services that put user privacy and data security at their forefront.

On this website, I will discuss developments in technology that are relevant to everyone, and I hope people find it informative. I will also cover the latest announcements, major security stories, and privacy concerns. In addition I will provide my thoughts on stories that are causing debate. Furthermore, I will be sharing ways you can help protect your digital privacy and online security. I strongly disagree with the “nothing worth hiding” viewpoint who believe those who wish to have their privacy respected have something inappropriate to hide – as it is simply a case of some people would like to keep their information and lives to themselves. For example: If a stranger walked up to you and asked for personal information, would you tell them simply because you have nothing to hide? I imagine not – so online should be no different.

That is not to say I am someone who strives for 100% anonymity online – it is near impossible and impractical. I feel it is about weighing the risks – if a service needs the data to function (but no more), and you find the service useful, then I think it is acceptable to share that information – knowingly and willingly. Different people are willing to share different levels of information in the name of convenience and that is okay. I think the key is that people should understand what information they are providing and where it is going so that we can all make an informed choice.

I wish for a world where technology helps all of society whilst maintaining our personal freedoms and rights. I also support accessible, fair, and unbiased journalism, in a digital life where misinformation spreads rapidly.

Passionate about technology, truth & trust.
Watching the impact of it all on our lives.

Interests

One of the ways I was first introduced to technology was through video games. I think games can be a powerful tool for escaping the daily stresses of life as a player, and gives developers a unique way to express stories and visions to the world.

I also like to keep up-to-date on the latest technology trends – watching the latest headlines on how tech is developing and how it is affecting our lives. Monitoring privacy-related developments is also important to me.

Away from the world of tech, I enjoy travelling and exploring.
